Member Ken Ackerman will discuss his most recent book.  It’s about a Russian Bolshevik who died eighty years ago and helped seize power in Russia. It's also about the Jewish people whose families came from Eastern Europe in the late 1800s or early 1900s and landed, at least temporarily, in the Yiddishkeit world of New York’s Lower East Side.  Trotsky inhabited this world for three months in early 1917. He became Ken's avatar for going back and visiting his roots and those of other families hungry for a new life.
