Cap off counting of the Omer by joining us for Shavuot Ice Cream Study led by Howard Shatz: “Out of the Desert: The origins and future of the Islamic State (and what it means for Israel)”, Tuesday, May 30, 8:30pm (at the home of Rabbi Bass).
Today is 7 days, which is 1 week of the Omer

Instructions for counting the omer are found on our Omer Overview Page. You can find the specific blessing for today at chabad.org.

And here’s today’s recipe, contributed by Alan S..

Lillian’s Luscious Matzah Balls

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 4 T chicken fat (Empire or other kosher brand)
  • 4 T. Club Soda
  • 1 c. matzah meal mixed with 1 T. salt & pepper combo (I use Himalayan rock salt or sea salt only with fresh ground pepper)

Directions

  • Beat eggs
  • Add chicken fat, club soda and matzah meal and continue mixing until blended
  • Refrigerate mixture for at least an hour
  • Form matzah balls (you can make any size, but about 2 inch diameter is best) by using cold water on your hands to keep meal from sticking
  • Gently drop(a slotted spoon works best) in large pot of salted boiling water and boil GENTLY for about 40 minutes until they float.
